If you are looking for a fluted wall panel you can paint any color, our paintable MDF fluted panels are the appropriate product for that application.

What are fluted wood panels?

Fluted wood panels are decorative wall panels with a repeating groove pattern routed into the face, creating raised ridges separated by concave channels. The grooves run the full length of each panel and produce strong vertical shadow lines that give a flat wall genuine depth and architectural character. Our fluted wood panels use a real walnut or white oak veneer surface over a moisture-resistant MDF core, with a flexible PVC backing that allows installation on both flat and curved surfaces. They are pre-finished at the factory and arrive ready to install with no painting, staining, or lacquering required on-site.

What is the difference between fluted and ribbed/reeded wood panels?

Fluted wood panels have a concave groove profile - the channels are cut into the face of the panel, so the grooves sit below the surface. Ribbed panels (also known as reeded panels) have a convex profile, so the ribs sit proud of the panel face. Both create strong vertical shadow lines and a similar overall effect, but the light falls differently on each. Fluted panels have a sharper, more architectural quality. Ribbed panels have a slightly softer, more sculptural feel. Our fluted wood veneer panels are available in Fluted, Wide Fluted, Ribbed, and Wide Ribbed profiles in both walnut and white oak, so you can choose the spacing and profile direction that suits your space.

Are Fluted panels or Wide Fluted panels better for my space?

The pattern width of your fluted wood paneling should correspond with the scale of your installation, the distance they will most often be viewed from. Wide fluted panels or wide ribbed panels (1.9" pattern width) are ideal for large-scale installations, like full walls with tall ceilings (over 10'), where they will often be viewed from further away. Standard width fluted wood panels (1.25" pattern width) are better for small-scale installations like bar islands, millwork details, and fluted half-wall projects, where they will be seen up close in smaller spaces.

Can fluted wood panels be installed on curved walls or furniture?

Yes, within limits. Our fluted wood veneer panels have a flexible PVC backing that allows them to conform to curved surfaces with a radius as small as 24 inches — suitable for curved feature walls, bar islands, and furniture projects. For tighter curves than 24 inches, our Flexible Ribbed Wood Panels have an individual flex joint between every rib and can handle significantly tighter radii, as small as 3" . Should I use fluted or ribbed wood panels?

We typically recommend fluted paneling for low-traffic walls like upper cabinets, fluted bedroom accent walls, and fluted living room accents. The ribbed panels are ideal for higher traffic areas like bar islands and hallways, as the thicker ribs make them more resistant to wear and tear over time.

Are fluted wood panels real wood?

Yes. Every panel in our fluted wood panel range uses a genuine wood veneer surface (real walnut or real white oak) over a dimensionally-stable MDF core. None of our fluted wood panels use artificial finishes like laminate, foil, or other faux wood-look products. The natural grain variation means no two panels are identical, and the surface is pre-finished with a factory-applied lacquer that does not require any additional finishing work on-site.

Had a client who wanted a small but luxurious laundry room with special features. There are many wood paneling options out there, but these were economical and look fantastic. The client was thrilled with the final look.

Great product!

The product, we love! The install was easy and we think the quality is very good. Our only frustration was the lack of communication about our shipping. I expressed that I wanted it expedited as fast as we could to meet Grand Opening deadlines and the customer service reassurance and understanding lacked tremendously. Even if it wasn’t possible, there was no emotion. And then when the shipper dropped it off, the box that the panels were delivered in was damaged. I was concerned the panels itself were actually going to be damaged.
But overall, we loved the panels and the overall look!

Amazing quality! They can be stained, despite their official statement saying not to. I used Early American stain on the walnut and it looks amazing!

Love The Look!

We attached the panels using construction glue and a nail gun- it was very easy to cut to size and then install. The panels are very consistent in look and have added depth to a focal wall in the primary bedroom. The process took us a full day as we were dealing with uneven ceiling heights, corners, baseboards and edging to a marble fireplace wall. But the product is fantastic. We love the look.

My island upgrade

I wanted to change the surround on my island and I had my heart set on doing fluted wood when I found the ones from this company they are skillet versus having space in between which felt easier to clean. The color is absolutely perfect to create warmth and texture in my kitchen and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out very easy to work with and looks so expensive!

Perfect room divider!

I wanted a room divider to create a line between our entry and living area. The design works well with the mid century modern aesthetic I was going for. We did have to build a box on the tup and bottom to accommodate the ceiling height but it looks perfect. If you are considering the slats for your room, do it! They are really beautiful!
